Mount Pumori was first summited by Gerhard Lenser in 1962 and the other fellow members of a German-Swiss expedition./p>
It was named as Pumori by George Mallory, meaning “ Unmarried Daughter. The mountain stands firm and tall at an elevation of 7,161m and is one of the best in Khumbu region.
This mountain has the iconic pyramid shape. It lies on the border of Nepal and the neighbouring Tibet.The trekkers will live to learn about the cultural significance as Sherpa language and Sherpa Hospitality is top-notch here.
However, Pumori is not an easy climb. It is challenge and one should have an experience in high-altitude mountaineering. You require the technical climb or should have at least moderate technical skills on snow and ice .

Where is Mount Pumori Located?
As mentioned above Mount Pumori lies on the border of Nepal and India in the Mahalangur range of the Himalayas. It is 8.5 km west of Mount Everest and 4.5km from Nuptse. The mount Everest and Nuptse looks finest and splendid as Pumori trains the trekkers for Everest.

Routes For Mt. Pumori
The Southeast Ridge Route is the most popular and widely used path to summit Mount Pumori. This route requires climbers to navigate through technical sections of steep ice and snow, setting up multiple camps along the way. Here’s an overview of the route:

Base Camp (5,300m/17,388ft)
Located at the foot of Pumori, the base camp serves as the starting point for acclimatization and preparation. Climbers spend several days here practising climbing techniques.They make sure all their necessary equipments are in order.

Camp I (5,700m/18,701ft)
You will reach Camp I by crossing all the sharp ridges and glacial ice. This camp I marks as the starting of the technical ascent(upwards). The upward climbing 40-50° slopes and must fixate the rope sections to avoid accidents and injuries.

Camp II (6,200m/20,341ft)
You gave to succeed the steep sections of snow and ice. You can see the majestic views of Everest and Nuptse which will steal your heart away. Means to say, the view is just spectacular. Climbers navigate the crevasses and icy bulges of up to 55° at Camp II.

Camp III (6,480m/21,325ft):
Climbers have to succeed the 1000m wall of glacial blue ice with slopes from 50° to 70°.Camp III is the final step towards the summit push or say victory of Pumori .Make sure you are cautious at every step.

Summit (7,161m/23,494ft)
This is the peak. You can witness the majestic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and the Tibetan Plateau. The summit push is awfully dangerous yet adventurous.That’s why climbers need to have advanced technical skills and physical preparation is mandatory.
Lastly, you have to follow the same route for the decent and reach the base camp and other lower camps.
Best Time to Climb Mount Pumori

Spring( March to May)
Climbers will find a very stable weather at this time. The temperatures are warm and homely, vibrant. The day hours are long which makes it ideal for climbing.
Likewise, the blooming Rhododendron at Khumbu are the scene and mesmerizing if you visit Pumori at Spring.
Autumn (September to November)
Like Spring, you can take your footsteps towards Pumori at Autumn . It provides the clear blue skies, crisp air and dry weather.
Seasons to avoid for Mount Pumori
Winter(December-February)
The winter in the mountains is followed by heavy snow,foggy weather and less sunlight. The visibility is extremely poor and difficult to follow the ropes. This is incase if you make preparation for climbing Mt. Pumori. Make sure you skip winter month for Pumori.
Monsoon(June to August)
Monsoon for Pumori includes heavy rainfall, the routes to every way are blocked , steep and not worthy to trek , climb or do anything. The visibility is unclear and there will be frequent change of plans which you are not ready for.
Make sure you skip these two seasons and choose the favourable seasons for amazing experience.
