Trekking in July and August in Nepal

- Magnificent Himalayan Treks

Trekking in Nepal can be done throughout the year. Summer or monsoon months of Nepal trekking are off-season. But trekking in Nepal during July also offers some wonderful short and long trekking.

July is the month of transition between summer and the monsoon season in Nepal, which can get very hot, very humid and very wet.

You’ll be lucky to have views of this kind along the Annapurna Circuit during hot and humid weather in July, heavy monsoon weather and thunderstorms are highly likely.

July is among the least touristic trekking months in Nepal. If your trek is during June and July, carry good rain equipment and light clothes because of the hot humid weather and be ready for heavy monsoon rains. Day temperatures of 30+ degrees and night temperatures of about 19 degrees are to be expected for most of the time at 2,000 m.

No wonder that monsoon season, June to August, does not attract hordes of trekkers to Nepal. All expect heat, wall-of-water rains that wash bridges away and render roads and trails into never-ending "slip-n-slides," endless transport delays, impossible-to-find views of the mountains and loads of leeches.

Fortunately, Nepal during July and August ,the summer trekkers are in rain-shadow, which is a dry area on the leeward side of a mountain range that bars weather systems accountable for rain to move through.

Although good weather forecasts are not 100% guaranteed, they generally get far less rain.

We've got a list of hikes to help plan your summer Nepal hike so your feet can be drier and your dispositions sunnier.
